The effectiveness of OPTIMAR® biostimulant for strawberry growth

Biostimulants are showing more possibilities of the natural substance usage in agriculture of zero waste. It is a natural and completely effective solution to improve the growth of the most demanding crops, such as strawberry.

With this objective we carry out this agricultural test with our OPTIMAR® biostimulant, a bioactivator formulated based on natural seaweed extracts (Ascophyllum nodosum), which favors and reactivates the cellular activity of the plant. Authentic natural vitamins benefit the agricultural products that need more attention and care. We will see below the effectiveness of the OPTIMAR® biostimulant on strawberry growth.

The analysis: OPTIMAR® for the strawberry plant

The experiment was carried out on the plant of strawberry (Sweet Charly variety). The main reason of it is verification of the effectiveness of this biostimulant based on algae as a growth regulator with improvement the yield and quality of strawberry cultivation, which makes the plants grow stronger without showing any phytotoxity. The trial was carried out in the Santiago Valley (Guanajuato) between August and November 2019 by the Benemérita Autonomous University of Puebla, under the direction of Professor-researcher Dr. Hermilo Sánchez.

Four different treatments were carried out – three with different doses of OPTIMAR® and one without bioestimulant- with four repetitions. The reason was to verify how OPTIMAR® optimized the growth of the strawberry plant and visibly improved the quality of the fruit. The OPTIMAR® treatments are applied accordingly, two applications were applied in fertigation, the first after transplantation and the second 20 days later.

OPTIMAR® was applied in fertigation at doses of 3, 3.5 and 4 L / ha, with the non-application of the product for the control. We will see in the following graphics the evolution of the height of the plant (at 10, 20 and 30 days after application), how many days were needed for flowering and fruiting, the number of flowers and fruits per plant were contemplated, and the yield of kilos per hectare.

CONCLUSIONS

OPTIMAR® treatments at doses of 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 L / ha were the ones that showed the highest growth in the different evaluations, compared to the untreated control.
The three doses of OPTIMAR achieved greater height in the strawberry plant, less number of days for flowering and fruiting, greater index of leaf area and chlorophyll content and an increase in the yield of kg / ha.
Without any toxicity, the OPTIMAR biostimulant proves to increase the yield of strawberry cultivation and achieves higher quality.
